BUILT DERBY 1949 (FIRST derby BR PATTERN)

Derby continued into BR using a cast iron oval with the same hole centres spacing and same general dimensions. Style wise there is a reversion back to MR/LMS style letters as to be also seen in Crewe in their 1948 1949 plates. Oddly onle Derby and Crewe take on this styling as we certainly don't see it from Horwich or any other non LMS works building LMS designed locomotives. They have a style we will cover under their own works. Looking in detail at the DERBY letters it can easily be seen they are identical in size and shape and style to those on the LMS dated and undated plates. Material is Iron. Note the ghost image of the block with the 49 of the year on it which has been picked up in the moulding process and copied onto the casting, nice constructional info on pattern making.

Size in inches- 10 & 5/16ths by 5 & 7/8ths (hole centres 8 & 3/4 typical), 1/4 inch thick.
Pattern Rarity- Not Common
Special Features- Reversion to LMS/MR style letters
