This is the first pattern of LMS Built Crewe and is certainly not common. Note that the lettering is in true Midland style as are the numbers, one can only assume that when Derby became the centre of the LMS and foisted the building of Midland designed engines onto Crewe, that the pattern maker made the patterns to the Derby drawings right down to the MR styling, this being the result. It certainly didn't last long, every other 1925 onwards plates keeps the plate layout the same but uses LNWR style lettering instead.
