Identical to the common pattern (as per the 1936) apart from the LMS lettering. 3 examples of these have been seen with 2 definately being from Duchess class locomotives as per the example shown, a 3rd was in the Gater collection. Some people believe the lettering has been braized back on but investigation of this on a stripped example shows this NOT to be the case and in fact photographic evidence has been seen of at least one of these style plates on a Duchess in BR service, in fact the preserved 46233 is one such loco. BR had a nasty habit of grinding the LMS off their plates, did they also de-letter the original pattern under BR then change their minds and stick a different LMS on as a replacement for ground off plates .... who knows, but cast on it certainly is! ?

Basic dimensions in inches- 10 & 3/8ths by 6
Pattern Rarity- Not Common, 3 seen.
Special Features- Same as 1936 pattern seen previously but with large ungainly LMS letters.
